Force sensitive resistor (FSR) also known as Force sensing resistor, and Flexible pressure sensor. It is constructed by screen-printing conductive materials onto stacked flexible polymer sheets. The sensor is ultra-thin, flexible, and outputs a signal according to the force, pressure, or mechanical stress that is applied to the sensing area. Force sensitive resistor is a resistive pressure sensor, the greater pressure occurs the lower resistance outputs.
There are two types of force sensitive resistors, Shunt mode, and Thru mode. Shunt mode force sensitive resistor is generally used for wide pressure range sensing. Thru mode force sensitive resistor is generally used for light pressure precise sensing.
